About me
Multicultural background
Stefani Feldman is a clarinetist born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After living in Norway for almost five years, she has returned to her hometown. Despite the immense struggles the artistic community faces now during the pandemic, Stefani is eager to give back and continue the performing arts' impactful tradition.
A classically trained and multi-faceted performer
She has worked with major orchestras in Norway, including the Oslo Philharmonic, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Norwegian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, and Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. She is an avid chamber and solo musician, constantly welcoming new music into her repertoire.
International performance experiences
Feldman’s career as an orchestral musician has led her to perform in the clarinet section of many orchestras in Sweden, Denmark and Russia. She has also been a fellow at Verbier Festival Orchestra and Atlantic Music Festival. As a soloist, Stefani has performed concertos with many Southern California orchestras, including Torrance Symphony, Brentwood Westwood Symphony, Southern Youth Music Festival Orchestra, and many others. The winner of many prestigious competitions, Stefani’s virtuosity has been acknowledged by the Music Center’s Spotlight Awards and American Fine Arts Festival Competition. She has performed in recitals at world-renowned stages like the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion and Carnegie Weill Recital Hall. Feldman is an ASCAP Foundation Leiber & Stoller Music/Young Musicians Foundation Scholarship recipient.
An artist-advocate for her community
Starting out as an active performer of Colburn School’s Encounter Program, she has enjoyed spreading the love of classical music in her communities. She believes in the power of classical music to bring lasting effects to all members of the community. The skills she learned from diverse communities abroad inform her ability to connect with and influence her community at home.
Globally educated
After completing her studies at the University of Southern California with Yehuda Gilad under a Trustee Scholarship, she moved to Oslo, Norway as a Fulbright Scholar and studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Björn Nyman. Her research included Nordic Contemporary music and its impact on the global music community while fulfilling her Master Degree. In addition to her studies with Richie Hawley and William H. Wellwood, she has participated in master classes with David Howard, Michele Zukovsky, Burt Hara, Leif Arne Pedersen, Fredrik Fors, Hans Christian Bræin, Bruno Martinez, Harri Mäki, Christoffer Sundqvist, Calogero Palermo, Michael Collins, and Milan Rericha.
Beyond music
Stefani is currently pursuing her MBA at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School with an emphasis in Finance. As a fond learner of languages, Stefani can speak Korean, Norwegian, Spanish, and Japanese. She enjoys baking artisanal bread and collecting recipes in different languages. In her free time, you will find her exploring nature or catching up on novels and historical fiction.
